A Journey Through Time
It begins with a feeling — a sense of profound wonder that is almost impossible to describe.
For some, it's the dusty, hallowed halls of a great museum, standing as a child before the colossal skeleton of a dinosaur and feeling utterly, thrillingly small. For others, it's the unexpected discovery on a quiet shoreline: the perfect, spiralled architecture of a fossil revealed in a split stone, a silent testament to a world that existed millions of years before our own.
For us, and our vendors, it is both.
Our story isn't one of a business plan, but of a simple fascination that blossomed into a lifelong pursuit. A passion for collecting became a passion for learning, and learning revealed a crucial truth.
The story of an object is as valuable as the object itself. Its provenance — where it came from, the journey it took through the earth and through human hands, and the scientific context that gives it meaning — that was the real magic.
This passion took us from windswept fossil beds in Montana to the bustling mineral markets of Tucson, from dusty university archives to the private collections of world-renowned experts. Along the way, we saw a gap between the incredible specimens held in trusted institutions and the pieces available to collectors and enthusiasts who shared our passion.
The Provenance was founded to bridge that gap.

We envisioned a curated gallery built on a foundation of academic rigour and absolute transparency. A place where every single item has been meticulously vetted, its story researched, and its authenticity evaluated. Every piece arrives with a documented chain of custody — where it was found, who found it, and how it came to be here. Told honestly and completely.

Our vendor approval process is rigorous. We work only with palaeontologists, geologists, and collectors whose credentials and ethics we have personally verified.
